Every day, people the ponder the question – “Should I stay or quit?” Some decide to stick it out and remain with their current employer while others decide it’s time to go. If you’ve reached the point when you’re starting to question whether you should stay or go, here are five signs that may help you figure it out:

  1. You dread going to work: If the thought of going to work fills you with a sense of on-going dread or anxiety, it’s likely time to move on. Our jobs take up a large chunk of our time, and if you’re unhappy for the majority of your day, it can significantly impact your overall well-being.

    2. You’re not growing: If you’ve been in the same position for a few years and haven’t had the opportunity to take on new challenges or responsibilities or you know you’re being deliberately held back, it may be time to look elsewhere. Feeling stagnant in your job can lead to boredom and a lack of motivation.

    3. You don’t trust or respect the leadership: Whether it’s top management or your immediate supervisor, if you find that your leadership isn’t showing up in competent, trustworthy ways, it might be time to leave. Also, if your work relationships are hindering your motivation and productivity, it’s likely time to look for a better fit.

    4. You don’t align with the company’s values: If you’re uncomfortable with the company’s values or don’t feel like you’re making a positive impact, it may be time to move on. Feeling like your work doesn’t align with your values can also lead to a loss of motivation and dissatisfaction.

    5. You’re simply not making enough money: If you feel like you’re not being compensated fairly for your work or it’s causing financial strain, it may be time to look for a new position. Feeling undervalued often leads to lower work satisfaction and can impact overall quality of life.

Quitting your job is a major decision, and if you’re experiencing the above signs, it may be time to move on. While it can be scary to leave your comfort zone, finding a better fit can lead to a more fulfilling career and overall contentment.

Until next time….
