Freedom’s Journey, Part 1

Bernie Frazier, SPHR is the Founder and President of CAREERCompass, LLC, a speaking and career coaching firm in St. Louis, MO. She also spent almost 25 years recruiting talent to six organizations across four industries and led the talent acquisition function for four of those organizations, including one global team.

Three years ago this week I began my career coaching business as a part-time endeavor.  Once it was up-and-running, I set a goal to leave my full-time job and pursue my business full-time within three years.  I’m happy to report that I beat my goal by 43 days.  Yaayy!!

While I have absolutely no regrets, I must admit the transition has been a journey!  To go from a standard cadence to my day……week to a schedule that is completely wide open can be a bit overwhelming, even in the excitement of it all.

Making a career transition is rarely easy – it affects your income, skills, reputation, confidence, schedule, family, future career options and psyche!  People who want to transition their careers always focus on the external changes that come, but I wonder how many people consider the internal changes too?

For those of you wanting to make a career transition, particularly if you want to start your own business, I encourage you to stay tuned.  For the next (fill in the number) Fridays, I’m going to blog about my week and my career transition journey.  Hopefully my joys, pains, fears and successes will help you along your own journey.

Until next time….
