In today’s job market, it’s very easy to understand why someone will take just about any kind of job they can get to pay the bills.  However, there can come a time in your search where unless you’re truly desperate for income, you may want to pause before accepting an offer.

Have you ever been in a situation where everything seemed right on the surface, but something kept telling you, “This is not good?”  That same thing can happen when interviewing for a job.  Unless you have the inside track or ask really good questions during your interview (and your interviewer is honest with you!), you never really know what type of situation(s) you’re walking into with a new job.  There could be some bombs just waiting to go off once you arrive – the boss from hell, employees whose skills (and attitude) are sub-par, the company is having financial problems which could result in layoffs in the near future, or a workload that could kill you.

While interviewing for a job, if you ever get that, “This is not good” feeling, go with your gut and ask more questions or consider walking away.  Trust me, you won’t regret it.

Until next time….
