It’s that time of year again when people promise to start/stop/continue doing something from the previous year.  Typically, if the focus isn’t on diet, exercise or finances, it’s on career.  This always makes it easy for people like me to promote to others – “New Year, New Career,” “Start your career off with a bang!” or some other catchy marketing ploy.

However, this year I’m not taking that approach.  This year I’m going to challenge you to do something a little different.  Instead of focusing on starting/stopping/continuing one task, I’m challenging you to pick a word.  Yes, pick a word that’s powerful enough to stick with you for the entire year – good times, bad times, happy times, sad times.  For instance, the word I have chosen for myself is “freedom.”  In my life this word will allow me to:

  • Work hard on lazy days
  • Re-shift my thinking so I can remain free from approaching certain situations in non-productive or non-healthy ways
  • Remove people and obstacles from my life that don’t allow me to operate in my freedom

The word for you could be “change,” “joy,” “peace,” power,” or anything else that strikes a chord with you.  The main thing is to select a word that is strong enough to last through all four seasons and bring about a positive change in your life by December 31, 2014.

Here’s a toast to a word.

Until next time….
